NICK BOSERIO X THE SKATEBOARDER'S JOURNAL

We’ve been doing a lot of late night filming missions lately
and this spot, right in the middle of the city is one place
we’ve been checking out on the regular. As you can see, the
rail lands directly into a shopping centre food court, so even
after midnight it is by no means a trouble-free place to skate. It’s
quite the opposite really, one of those spots you always walk past
during the day but just brush off as too much of a bust.
We’d succeeded a week earlier in actually getting enough
time for some crew to try a few tricks but it wasn’t long before we
were given the boot. This particular night we decided to give it
another go. Our hopes for enough time to get a good session in
were high, Brass (Nick Boserio) and Gabbers (Gabriel Summers)
were both keen to jump straight into some tricks. As soon as we
got in there and moved tables out of the way of the landing Brass
started jumping straight into lipslides, no hesitation. About 10
minutes later we noticed a security guard running towards us,
yelling. Brass hadn’t half stepped, and had already landed the
lipslide, meaning that at least we weren’t going to be leaving
empty handed.
In typical fashion Gabbers tried to squeeze in one more
attempt, but the security guard wasn’t having it and tried to grab
him mid huck – this threw him off balance and he slammed at the
bottom of the stairs, bouncing straight back to his feet and
getting all staunch on the guard - eventually they both calmed
down and the guy even let Gabbers have a few more tries - but
after a couple of attempts, he started getting anxious and
threatened to call the cops.
With Brass’ trick in the bag and the potential of a visit from
the 5-0 it was definitely time to split. As we were leaving we
heckled the sekky, asking why it had taken him so long to kick us
out. He confessed he did get the call much earlier, but lucky for us
he was on the crapper!
Shit happens.
