The Wilmot’s have been part of the Insight family since 2007. Always on the lookout for creativity and flair, Insight became aware of Jamaica’s inspiring surf story largely via the Malloy’s classic film ‘A Broke Down Melody’. Shortly after Insight’s Jamaican surf team of Billy ‘Mystic’ Wilmot and his kids Ishack, Inilek, Icah, Imani and Ivah was fashioned.
Not only are they some of Jamaica’s top surfers, Icah, Ishack and Inilek are a talented bunch of musicians. With Icah on bass, Ishack on keys and Inilek taking care of vocals, they shape one half of From the Deep. The band have taken their original reggae sound and toured it all through the Caribbean. The boys are following closely in the footsteps of their father, Billy, who is the lead singer of legendary reggae band Mystic Revealers.
Featuring in Insight’s Dead Modern, Zoup and Dopamine campaigns, over the years we have seen the Wilmot’s dreadies and surfing grow at a rapid rate. Icah’s surfing in particular is headed in a world-class direction. After taking out Jamaican’s National circuit in 2009, Icah is looking to defend his title this year, then setting his sights on the WQS in 2011.
