We take time out with girl wonder Ilirjana Alushaj, lead singer of Apache Beat and a rad deejay around town who gets flown over to LA regularly to rock shows. She is the founder of an online mag called The Pop Manifesto and if that's not enough she also has a few other creative projects running, her solo one titled Typical Girls and VItal Caress.
1. Where do you call home and where do you feel most at home?
That is a hard one as I don't feel super connected to actual places. It is more about the people and where I want to spend my time... so at the moment that special place is New York. I do however miss things from Australia.
2. How do you spend your days?
Drinking coffee. Working on my record label and magazine. Writing music. Ignoring emails. Discovering talent. Complaining. Dying my hair. Buying records. DJing. Throwing parties. State of being.
3. What inspires you?
People, flowers, love, prints, art, music, propaganda and colour.
4. How did you find music or music find you?
I loved Kylie as a little kid, but then stopped caring and vanished into books. In my late teens I rediscovered the awesomeness of sound. Apart from my family and friends, it has played the featuring role within my life.
5. How do you define your style in 3 words?
Contrast, colour and conspiracy.
6. What do you want to say to the world?
Hi.
